China is the Apple of World Powers

People's Republic of Apple

China limits people’s freedoms and rights, exhibits harsh and total control, keeps a tremendous amount of its operations secret, and yet makes a ridiculous amount of money. Who else does that make you think of, hmm?

The only difference is that Apple actually designs good products. Oh snap, China.

Wow, I’ve Been Posting a Lot of Really Negative Stuff Lately

Sorry. I’ll try and write happier things.

Dear Newsblogs: Copy. Editing. Do It.

This is getting ridiculous. I can’t count how many times I’ve spotted a typo or grammatical error on a newsblog like Ars Technica or Gawker days or weeks after an article was originally published. Come on, people, I know typos and mistakes can slip by your eye before you hit Publish, but fix them when you inevitably notice them later. Even if it’s an old article, just press Edit and fix it. It’s not hard.

There’s even less of an excuse when you have 8 or 10 staff writers with editing privileges reading each other’s articles. Or when you make 5 updates to a breaking story and your third sentence still talks about “Aople, Inc.”

How Does One Pronounce “Technorati”?

Technorati, I love you so, but how do I pronounce you?

I figured it was “tek-NAH-ruh-tee”, but that kinda sounds like I’m making fun of a Japanese person saying “technology.” Unless that’s what I’m supposed to say, in which case, wtf.

Dramatic Irony

I didn’t exactly realize how absurd this was until I wrote it in a screenplay I’m working on:

EXT. THE UNIVERSE

But is it an Exterior? Or Interior? I’m actually not sure.

And yes, this was totally worthy of a post in and of itself as opposed to just putting it on Twitter.
