About

Plankhead is an organization devoted to the production, promotion, and proliferation of public media. Or, in less pretentious terms, we make stuff, donate it to the world, and scream loudly about its existence.

Our Philosophy/Mission/Thing

  • Culture is not meant to be cold and corporate. Where others create content, we make stuff.
  • Culture is not property; it belongs to everyone. Copy what we produce. Share it. Build on it. Make a living with it, even. Go wild. All we ask is that you don’t plagiarize, and nothing else.
  • Every idea conceived and expressed by humanity is culture. It doesn’t matter if it’s the Mona Lisa or a fart joke. If it’s an idea that makes someone, somewhere, feel something, it’s culture.
  • The motive is not profit; the motive is culture. Art should not be an incidental logistical concern in the pursuit of making money. Money should be an incidental logistical concern in the pursuit of making art.
  • Everything is hilarious. The fact that us human beings exist at all is so cosmically ironic. Laugh at everything, even what is sacred. It’s so much more fun that way.
  • Pancakes.

Who We Are

Zacqary Adam Green
Founder and Chief Executive Plankhead

Zacqary is a filmmakery-artist-type-thing, and spells his name with a “q” because he’s insane. Also because it’s more Googlable than the normal spelling, but mostly because he’s insane.

A quirky nerd by the looks of him but an anti-authoritarian punk at heart, Zacqary decided one day that the best way to bring down The Man and The System was to ignore them completely and build a better alternative. The next day, after he’d sobered up, he wondered what the hell he’d been thinking, not to mention how he’d gotten so inebriated without actually drinking any alcohol, but decided to just go with it anyway. And thus, Plankhead was born.

In his spare time, Zacqary is a purple fox named Xerxes.

David Lanz
Co-founder and Chief Operating Plankhead

David is a forensic scientist who secretly wants to be a rock star, even though he doesn’t know it. He is also an admitted super-hipster, which is more hipster than hipster, because being a hipster while denying that you are one is so mainstream.

He joined Plankhead when Zacqary was all like, “Do you want to be a co-founder of Plankhead?”, and he was all like, “Sure! :D”, and Zacqary was all like, “Awesome.” That pretty much sums it all up.

Other People

All sorts of random people contribute to Plankhead projects, while being in a Schrödinger’s Cat-esque state of being members and non-members of Plankhead at the same time. By “organization”, we in no way meant to imply that we’re organized.
